What we do
NPL runs bespoke organic synthesis in our Brisbane facility, multi-step routes, structure-confirmed products, lot-traceable. We work primarily in:
- Furan-platform monomers and amines
- Maleimide and bis-maleimide crosslinkers
- Specialty amines and amides
- Diels-Alder building blocks (dienes, dienophiles)
- Polymer and crosslinker analogues for SAR / formulation studies
Synthesis is run by chemists with prior industrial scale-up experience, against a documented procedure. Each batch ships with a per-lot Certificate of Analysis, NMR (and GC where applicable), and a brief route memo.
How we engage
Engagement begins with a target structure or target property, sent under a one-page mutual NDA. Within 48 hours we return a written scope: route, intermediates, expected yield, scale, lead time, and price. If accepted, work begins against a fixed-price purchase order, no time-and-materials surprises.
For programs requiring repeat batches or scale-up, custom synthesis transitions cleanly into contract manufacturing (SV-02) under a separate supply agreement.
All custom-synthesis engagements are run under a one-page bilateral NDA. Target structures, customer identity, and analytical results are kept inside the engagement, they are not added to a public catalogue, used in case-studies, or referenced in marketing without written approval.
By default the customer owns the molecule, the data, and any application IP arising from it. NPL retains the right to use synthesis know-how (general procedures and process improvements) for unrelated work, with no claim on the customer's target.
Process
Structure & spec
Target structure, target purity, scale, and timing, sent under a one-page NDA. We confirm what's feasible and flag anything export-controlled before quoting.
Route & price
Written scope: synthesis route, intermediates, expected yield, lead time, fixed price, payment terms, and analytical package included with delivery.
Run & characterise
Synthesis runs against the agreed procedure. Intermediate checkpoints by NMR / TLC where the route warrants. Final product characterised by NMR, GC and/or HPLC.
Ship & document
Product ships from Brisbane with COA, NMR (and GC where applicable), SDS, and a one-page route memo. Cold-chain on request. Local courier inside AU.
